Taragarh Fort was constructed in 1354 AD by King Ajaypal Chauhan, the founder of Ajmer. This majestic fort served as a strategic military post due to its elevated location on the Nagpahari Hill of the Aravalli range. With its strong walls and steep climbs, it provided a robust defense against invaders. The fort once housed massive battalions and had underground tunnels for emergency escape during wars, showcasing its tactical brilliance. Over time, it came under Mughal control and was also used during British rule as a military hospital.

Though time has taken its toll on the structure, Taragarh still boasts remnants of its architectural glory. The colossal gateway, the battlements, and the famed Bhim Burj — a large cannon emplacement — still evoke awe. The fort also contains a shrine dedicated to Hazrat Miran Sahib, a Sufi saint and warrior. Today, the fort stands more as a relic of heritage and mystery, inviting tourists and trekkers to relive its glorious past.
